Ravi as he turned the pages of the novel his thoughts too re winded. He was thinking of Varuna. His Best friend right from his childhood . He did not understand why these days Varuna was avoiding him. Even his calls were cut and all the effort he had taken to know the reason behind her behavior was in vain. She had never been like this. He was thinking of the days when they spent time together and had lot of fun. Their friendship had made others to envy at college. But nothing could separate them and their friendship. But now he was confused with her silence. Just then he received a call. He saw his mobile and it was Varuna calling.
“Oh Goodness! what a surprise?”, he murmured to himself and attended the call. His face changed and he was grief struck when he heard the news.
Ravi was watching Varuna being buried. His best friend is no more in this world. He was having the diary given by Varuna to her mother before her death.
As he turned the pages, he saw a letter addressed to him by Varuna. He started reading.
To my Dear Friend,
I know , you must be confused with my behavior these days. You were my best buddy and I care for you and like you so much. I am lucky to have you as my friend. They say best friends stay forever. But Ravi… I cant be with you forever. It was natures' crooked mind to take away me from this world at this young age in the name of Cancer. But no one is to be blamed. The moment I heard that I am nearing my final stage I want to tell you this and cry to you. But I was not able to tell to you. I had no strength to face you with this truth which I know would shatter you. I hid the sorrow within me. Even now, I am not away from you. I am always with you. Keep smiling buddy .
Your best buddy,
Varuna.
Tears filled Ravi’s eyes.
