Periyar – Movie Review.

தொண்டு செய்து பழுத்த பழம்
தூய தாடி மார்பில் விழும்
மண்டைச்சுரப்பை உலகு தொழும்
மனக்குகையில் சிறுத்தை எழும்
அவர்தான் பெரியார்!!

It was an excellent experience watching the movie Periyar. People like me, who had just heard about him and his service to this society and not seen him , Sathyaraj just brought Periyar before our eyes through his excellent acting. The songs that went on well with the story line. Especially the song Nanum yaroo… by Jesudas which comes after the death of Nagamaiyar depicts the feelings of Periyar when he lost his wife. Also, the song to abolish Devadasi system Thai Thai.. danced by Swarnamalya is just another good piece.

Kushboo aptly fits in for the character of Maniammaiyar in her Resemblance and also her acting was good. The other characters like C.N. Annadurai, Dr. Kalaingar , M.G.R were perfectly matched .

It was indeed great work by the Director to bring in the life history of Periyar in a movie in a way everyone could understand and enjoy it.

Periyar - A movie to be watched especially by the younger generations to know about the service he had done to this society.
